Ancient Ruins
“If you wanna be a good archaeologist, you gotta get out of the library!” …
… Indiana Jones (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade).
This is a gallery of my favourite photos taken from my many travels around the Yucatan Peninsua and Guatemala. The collection also includes some photos from a few other ancient sites much further to the west, in the Basin of Mexico. There’s even images taken while visiting various related museums.
The photos are grouped roughly by region or architectural style, as I understand them.
My greatest photographic adventures in the Yucatan, Guatemala, and Belize would not have been possible without my friend and local guide Xony Juarez. If you are coming to the Yucatan and want something beyond the usual resort experience, I highly recommend you get in touch with him.
If you want to learn more about the sites shown here, a great place to start is: The Maya Ruins Website. Of course, an even better way to learn more about them, apparently, is to get out of the library (and go see them for yourself).
